The artist has given the entirety of his twenty-five thousand pound Mercury Prize prize money to the MVT, which operates to protect the UK's independent concert spaces.
Fender was given the cheque on 16 October as his latest record the album was declared the top album of the last 12 months.
The musician has decided to give the cash to the Music Venues Trust, in acknowledgment of the essential function grassroots venues had in his initial steps.
"I would not have achieved my current career if it weren't for all the shows I did around the North East, and beyond, when I was starting out," stated Sam Fender. "These spaces are legendary, but they are struggling."
Since the start of 2023, more than 150 of these spaces have shut down – about one-sixth of the whole industry in the UK.
Recently, well-known musicians like Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sheeran have all supported the Music Venues Trust in its efforts to keep the scene afloat, by adding a modest fee to their admission fees, which goes to help local stages.
Sam Fender also participated, collecting in excess of £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to help 38 grassroots venues across England, Scotland, and Wales.
The money helped spaces that were dealing with possible closure due to difficulties stemming from floods, fire incidents and personal losses, as well as regulatory hurdles, conflicts and neighbor objections.
Some locations were granted monetary aid in improving facilities and gear that directly benefitted artists and audiences.
"The concept that money from performances in big venues helps the local stages, where it kicks off for artists like me, is just logical," Fender has stated.
He is not the first artist to contribute his award winnings to good deeds.
In the band earned the trophy in the year 1996 for their record their work, lead singer Jarvis Cocker stated that the band would contribute their winnings to the non-profit the charity.
That year, rapper and singer Ms Dynamite split her award among a few good causes, such as the children's charity and a Sickle Cell organization.
"Additionally, I contributed a thousand pounds to the center, to their gymnastics program, because I trained in gymnastics when I was growing up and they lacked better apparatus," Ms Dynamite told the media.
Previously, the band gave their prize money to the youth organization that supported their group, in addition to other independent music bodies.
And 1994 winners M People contributed their award to a MS organization after a friend was diagnosed the illness.
"The victory was quite enough," remarked artist the singer. "The money was the cherry on top but we didn't need the cherry, because we had the main prize. So our success touched somebody else's life."
In the past week, the trust announced it had protected a couple of small stages in south-east England, by transferring them to public stewardship.
The Joiners in the city and the second in Bristol were purchased under the public acquisition scheme, which is funded by Arts Council England and enthusiasts who buy "stakes" in the buildings.
